9. Sir Richie Richardson (West Indies) – 3984 runs

Most runs IN ODIs batting at number 3
Richie Richardson (West Indies ) – No.9

Richie Richardson was merited with making runs across all the cricket playing nations. He was under the shadow of Sir Vivian Richards, which was quite obvious considering the reputation of the latter.  Richardson emerged out of the shadow of Vivian Richards, having contrastingly opposite character than the latter. Richardson was exceedingly modest and courteous. Richardson always believed in playing the game in the right spirit of the game, when those values and morals were merely on paper. There was however something similar between  Richards and Richardson – both restrained themselves from wearing helmets when they came to bat. Richardson particularly enjoyed success over the Australians, scoring nine centuries in the process. Only Sachin Tendulkar and Sir Jack Hobbs have bettered this feet. Richie Richardson was a brilliant batsman and a great player of the hook shot though he was accused at times of lack of concentration. Richie Richardson scored 3984 runs at no.3 position, which he made his very own. He is no.9 in the list of most runs at number three position in ODI.
