The relationship between Angel Di Maria and his ex-club Real Madrid took a negative turn when the Argentine international claimed that the club requested him not to play the World Cup 2014 final. Di Maria revealed in his interview that he got a letter from Madrid that arrived at 11:00 on the day of the [World Cup final] asking him not to play. Germany eventually beat Argentina 1-0 to win the World Cup, but it was Di Maria who helped the Albiceleste reach the final in the first place. Before the World Cup, he had a terrific season for Real Madrid, bagging 17 assists and helping the club win the Copa del Rey title and their 10th Champions League crown ( La Decima ). Di Maria was never on good terms with Florentino Perez. Both club President Perez and coach Carlo Ancelotti claim Di Maria requested to leave the club. He explained that he never wanted to leave Madrid, the club decided to buy other players, he always had a great relationship with his team mates.Real Madrid had gone on spending spree by buying World Cup sensation James Rodriguez and German World Cup winner Toni Kroos – both of whom cost a combined €110m. Di Maria then spoke about Cristiano Ronaldo who has been vocal in his support of Di Maria in the wake of his Bernabeu exit and the 26-year-old believes the Portuguese star may also move on in the coming years after he expressed a wish to return to Old Trafford one day. And he concluded saying that he want to score goals and get United back to where they should be and is very happy to be in Manchester.
