12th November 2017, Bhubaneswar: Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar concluded its three days management & cultural fest Xpressions, 2017 with quite a crescendo, by hosting Farhan Live, at its concert night, “Celeblitz”, on November 12, 2017. This was Farhan Akhtar’s first live performance in Bhubaneswar.

The fest, with its multitudes of business and cultural competitions, could not have asked for a more multi-faceted performer to grace its concert night. Enthralling a humungous, diverse crowd could be quite daunting for any performer, but Farhan seemed immune to such vagaries. Connecting to the crowd with his very first song, he went on to tell a personal story of his adolescence days, of how he wasn’t entirely sure of what he wanted to do in life. Quite appropriately, he performed to “Main Aisa Kyun Hu”, from Lakshya, a movie that he had directed in 2004, right after sharing the anecdote.

Farhan is not just a riveting performer, but also a champion of feminism and women empowerment, and his belief that men have a role to play in the same. Talking about his initiative, MARD, an awareness drive for Men Against Rape and Discrimination, he awed the audiences by singing a song which he and the band had written and composed on the same issue. He urged everyone in the audience to visit www.therealmard.org, to support and pledge to his cause.

No Farhan Live concert could be complete without his jaw-dropping antics, which seems to keep the audience tapping to his music. From doing the tango to “Senorita”, a song sang by him in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara to climbing up an over 20 feet stage support to ensure even the last row in the crowd get a good glimpse of him, Farhan knows how to keep the audience thoroughly engaged.

In between singing hits like, “Socha Hain”, “Meri Laundry ka Ek Bill”, “Tum Ho Toh” (all the three from the first movie which he acted in: Rock On), “Zinda”, and “Havan Kund” (both adrenaline-inducing numbers from his movie, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag), Farhan beautifully accentuated his performance by reciting out poems like “Zinda Ho Tum”, which were featured in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.

Farhan kept infusing the crowd with love and energy, through his performance. The harrowed grounds of XIMB, which has seen the likes of Shankar-Ehsan-Loy, Arijit Singh, Amit Trivedi, Mohit Chauhan, Salim-Sulaiman, Vishal-Shekhar, Euphoria, Lucky Ali, and KK, charmed Farhan with an audience who could not get enough of him. After a performance, which kept the entire audience enthralled through the mesmerizing evening, Farhan bid adieu by expressing his gratitude to the audience of XIMB fraternity and Bhubaneswar, for all the love, which they had showered on him and his band through his performance.

His concert brings down the curtain, spectacularly, to Xpressions 2017. For more information, please visit https://www.facebook.com/ximbxpressions/. To keep a tab on Farhan Live, please visit https://www.facebook.com/farhanliveofficial/.
