3. 88* vs Sri Lanka, February 5th 2008
India was playing it’s second match in the Commonwealth Bank series. Put in to bat, India were looking to set a good total against a good Sri Lankan side. But India were struggling at 83/4 at one stage. In came Dhoni to join Gambhir who looked good. They both laid the foundation to set a good total. Gambhir got a hundred, but Dhoni played the perfect partner to Gambhir. They both ran very well between the wickets, converting the ones into twos and finding the odd boundary. Dhoni donned the role of the finisher towards the slog overs which saw India finish their allotted 50 overs at 267. It couldn’t have been achieved without Dhoni and his calculated aggression towards the end.
