The final ODI match of the India-Pak  bi-lateral series turned out to be a pot-boiler despite the cold conditions. The hosts eventually managed to edge past the men in green to snatch a remarkable victory from the jaws of defeat.

# Saeed Ajmal‘s feat of five for 24 is the third best at Feroz Shah Kotla. Kemar Roach (WI) had taken 6 for 27 against Netherlands in 2011 and Vivian Richards (WI) – 6 for 41 against India in 1989.

 

 

 

# Harbhajan Singh and Ashley Giles are two other bowlers to have captured five wickets in an innings at this venue.

# Ajmal‘s superb figures are the second best by a Pakistani bowler in a losing cause in ODIs..  Imran Khan had captured 6 for 14 against India at Sharjah on March 22, 1985.

# Kamran Akmal, for the first time in ODIs, has registered consecutive ducks.  His second duck against India is his eighth in Limited-Overs Internationals.

# Umar Akmal has completed his 2,000 runs in 71 ODIs – 2001 at an average of 37.75.

followed by Mark Boucher (402), Kumar Sangakkara (311), Brendon McCullum (218), Moin Khan (214) and Dhoni (200).

# With seven wickets at 15.57 runs apiece, Ishant  Sharma is the top wicket-taker for India in the series.

# Shami Ahmed is the first Indian bowler to bowl four maiden overs on debut in an ODI.

# Dhoni has received his fifth Man of the Match award against Pakistan – his 18th in ODIs.

# Pakistan have recorded their first series win (2-1) over India in ODIs since 2004-05.

# Pakistan (157) have posted their lowest total against India at Feroz Shah Kotla in ODIs.

# India (167) have posted their highest total against Pakistan at Ferozshah Kotla, bettering the 144 on April 17, 2005. The said total is India’s fifth lowest defended by them in ODIs successfully – their lowest is 125 against Pakistan at Sharjah on March 22, 1985.

# Ravindra Jadeja (27) has posted his highest score against Pakistan in ODIs. He has recorded an economy rate of less than 2.00 (1.90) as a bowler for the first time.

# India‘s win is their first in two games against Pakistan at Feroz Shah Kotla, New Delhi.  Their exciting win by ten runs is their smallest by runs’ margin at Feroz Shah Kotla.

# Virat Kohli has registered his worst performance in a series in ODIs, totalling 13 runs at an average of 4.33.  His strike rate of 41.93 in the series is his worst in an ODI career,

# Dhoni has amassed 203 runs at an average of 203.00 in the series – a tally bettered only by Nasir Jamshed‘s 241 at an average of 120.50.

# Ravichandran Ashwin has posted his first duck against Pakistan – his third in ODIs.

# Saeed Ajmal has produced five for 24 — his best against India in ODIs.  His excellent figures are the best by a Pakistani bowler at Feroz Shah Kotla.  The said peerformance is his best in ODIs – his second five-wicket instance.

# Ajmal became the first Pakistani spinner to take five wickets in an innings in India.  His performance is the third best by a spinner against India – the two best are Muttiah Muralitharan’s 7 for 30 at Sharjah on October 27, 2000 and Ajatha Mendis’ 6 for 13 at Karachi on July 6, 2008.

# Besides Muralitharan, Ajmal and Mendis, three other spinners have bagged five wickets in an innings against India –  Saqlain Mushtaq and Mushtaq Ahmed and Ashley Giles.

# Ajmal’s aforesaid feat is the second best by a Pakistani bowler against India in India. Naved-ul-Hasan had taken six for 27 at Jamshedpur on April 9, 2005.

# Junaid Khan has taken eight wickets in the series at 12.37 runs apiece – his best performance in an ODI series. Ajmal also took eight at 10.75 runs apiece – the best in the recently concluded series.

# Not even a single fifty has been scored in India-Pakistan game for the fourth time.
