7. Michael Clarke 230 vs South Africa, Sydney, 2012
The year 2012 favored the fortunes of Australian skipper Michael Clarke. After a crushing defeat in quarter final against India in World Cup 2011, Ricky Ponting handed over the reins of captaincy to Michael Clarke. His triple century along with a double century in the 2nd and 4th test respectively against India in 2012 were quite dazzling and fruitful for his team. While playing against South Africa at the Adelaide oval, he played a magnificent innings of 230 and hence became the only batsman in world to score four double centuries in a calendar year. In 2012, Michael Clarke was named Wisden Leading Cricketer in the World for his superb effort.
