He broke the world record of most runs in a calendar year by Andy Flower (1,045 runs) as well as the record for maximum dismissals set by Ian Healy (67 dismissals). Bairstow was the man-in-form for England and fell just 7 runs short of most runs, this calendar year.

The right-hander had commenced the year with a brilliant 150 at Cape Town and carried on his good form against Sri Lanka and Pakistan at home. Jonathan played some handy knocks against Bangladesh and India as well and exhibited his versatility in different conditions. Bairstow scored 3 centuries and 8 half-centuries in 29 innings.
