1. Karun Nair (India)

Top 10 Debutants of 2016After having performed consistently at domestic-level, Karun Nair finally got his chance for India, this year. He made his debut against Zimbabwe in ODIs but hardly made an impact. But Nair was always a better red-ball player, so he patiently waited for his Test cap that he eventually got in November 2016. After having done all the good work in domestic arena, flop show in his first two Tests, put him in a spot of bother. But Nair bounced back strongly and went on to score a triple-century in just the third innings of his Test career.

From technique to temperament, conventional to modern strokes, defence to attack, Karun batted and batted his way through to the record books. He is only the second Indian to score a Test triple-century and his score of 303* runs was the highest-individual score in 2016. In 3 innings, the Karnataka batsman amassed 320 runs at 160.
