8. England vs India, Champions Trophy Final, Lord’s, 2013
Playing against England in England itself always gives the willies to the opponent. India’s unbeaten cameo in the Champions Trophy 2013 was a formidable display of all round performance. After defeating Sri Lanka in the Semi Final, India had to compete against England in the final. The match was completely washed off, though a 20 over game was still on. England managed to restrict India to 129 runs, after electing to field under overcast conditions. In reply, Eoin Morgan and Ravi Bopara added 64 runs for the 4th wicket and settled the England innings. Ishant Sharma’s 2 wickets in 2 consecutive deliveries transmuted the flux of the match. India’s brilliance in bowling and fielding in the end demarcated England, who eventually fell short of 5 runs to win the final.
