5. Australia vs India, Commonwealth Bank Series, 2008
After a miraculous win at Perth in the test series against Australia, India boomed in the Commonwealth Bank Series like never before. This was the first occasion, where the skipper MS Dhoni was leading the side in Australia. India had never won the Commonwealth Bank Series before. The Indian side was relentless, yet confident after entering into the finals. After winning the 1st final in Sydney, India had to win the 2nd one in order to win the series. Indian openers were off to a decent start after winning the toss. Sachin was sent back to the pavilion on 91, when the momentum slowed down and India could manage 258 runs in 50 overs eventually. Praveen Kumar with his late swing dismissed Adam Glichrist and Ricky Ponting in his 2nd over itself. Although Andrew Symonds and Mathew Hayden tried to settle the innings, Harbhajan’s magical over directed them towards the pavilion. Soon, Indian bowlers gained the possession, thereby winning the match by 9 runs. Dhoni and his young guns made history by defeating Australia in Australia for the first time.
