2. Virat Kohli (India)
The Young Turk of India has been the most consistent ODI batsman over the last three years or so. Virat shot to glory with a counter-attacking hundred against Australia in Adelaide in an otherwise forgettable 2012 tour for India. In the tri-series that followed, Virat stamped his authority on the 50 over version of the game with a spectacular 133 off 82 balls that saw India overhaul a 330 odd target in 37.2 overs. Virat also came of age in test cricket with a superb showing in India’s tour of Australia earlier this year. However, poor performances after a brilliant hundred against Pakistan in the opening match of the World Cup have left him answering uncomfortable questions over the effect of the presence of his girlfriend Anushka Sharma within the team management itself. However, professional cricketers are known to overcome such hurdles and Virat is widely expected to bounce back with perhaps an excellent performance for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the ongoing edition of the IPL.
