9. Suspension of CSK and RR from IPL:
In a bid to clean cricket in India, the Lodha Panel which was appointed by the Supreme Court of India passed a landmark judgment on the fate of two IPL teams namely Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR). The CSK and RR franchises were banned for a period of 2 years from the IPL on account of their illegal involvement in betting and spot-fixing scandals in the cash rich league. Gurunath Meiyappan (India Cements) and Raj Kundra (Jaipur IPL Pvt Ltd) who were associated with CSK and RR respectively were also handed over severe punishments. Both were banned for life from all BCCI-related cricket activities.
