One of the strongest, direct and successful captains in the history of cricket, Graeme Smith was the pillar of South African team. He was the youngest South African captain and also the most successful test captain, surpassing Ricky Ponting with 48 test wins.
Opening along with Herschelle Gibbs, they produced devastating high scoring partnerships. In the Twenty20 format, Smith achieved the 800 plus mark, scoring 803 runs from 27 matches with the career best innings of 89 not out against Australia in 2006. He has scored four fifties in his T-20 career and has an impressive record of 18 wins out of 27 as the captain.
