John Edrich is one of the best left handed openers who batted for England. He has impressive stats for an opening batsman. He has scored 5138 runs at an average of 43.54 from 77 matches. Edrich made big strides forward in cricket starting the year 1965. He scored 2319 runs in First Class that seasson.

Wisden honoured him in 1966 conferring him as one of the Wisden Cricketer of the Year in 1966. His magnificient run in the 1970-71 Ashes series helped him to 10 consecutive 50 plus scores in Tests, thereby making him the first batsman to do so.
