8. Vivian Richards (West Indies) v/s Greg Thomas (England)
Vivian Richards was a swagger of a player with his epitomizing aggression and devastating repertoire of strokes. There were few bowlers in the world who would try to unsettle the boastful batter with banter. In a county match in England, Thomas was bowling to Richards and was getting a few to zip past the batsmen. The Calypso king was looking susceptible at the crease. After Richards played and missed another one, Thomas said: “It’s red, it’s round and weighs 6 ounces. Now f**k*n hit it!”. In a way Thomson pumped up the sleeping tiger to an extent that Richards slaughtered the very next ball out of the ground. Then in a dismissive way he told the bowler “You know what it looks like now go and get it.”
